Friendship day was held first in the of August, in the Paraguayan Chaco . Friendship day was originally founded by Hallmark in 1919. It was intended to be celebrated as a day for people to celebrate their friendship by sending each other cards, gifts, but by 1940 the market had started to dry up, and eventually it died out completely. After numerous efforts, the government of Paraguayan through the Ministry of Education and Culture established a date for the recall through Resolution No. 242 of 1964. Moreover after that it then spread to other countries in Latin America and other regions also, although it is celebrated differently in different parts of the world.
